Today, we are proud to announce that SECANT has become part of ARDIS®.
It brings together two family businesses, 40 years each of experience in cutting optimization and, most importantly, a shared ambition: to keep pushing the boundaries of what optimization technology can do.
For us, this is much more than an acquisition. It is an investment in one of the technologies that has been at the heart of ARDIS® since the very beginning.
It also makes ARDIS® the leading technology provider in cutting optimization. No one else brings this much algorithmic depth, this many decades of experience and this breadth of application together in one platform.
SECANT’s roots go back to 1987, when Peninsula Services Ltd was founded in the UK by scientists from the UK Atomic Energy Authority, led by Brian Foster.
Over the following decades, SECANT developed optimization technology for sheet, plate, bar and beam processing across industries including wood, plastics, steel, aluminium and glass.
Today, that technology and expertise are becoming part of ARDIS®.
ARDIS® has followed a remarkably similar path: a family-owned software company built around cutting optimization technology, continuously developed over 40 years and grown into a full production platform running from order intake to finished parts.
Bringing these two stories together felt like a very natural fit.
For existing SECANT customers, becoming part of ARDIS® means that the technology is now backed by a much larger international software organization.
ARDIS® brings dedicated capabilities in software development, R&D, support and implementation, together with a wider technology platform and international organization.
There is no immediate change for SECANT customers. Customers will continue to be supported while we gradually build the future together.
There is another reason why this combination feels right.
Both SECANT and ARDIS® grew from family entrepreneurship and a long-term approach to technology.
ARDIS® is privately and independently owned. Its shareholders are the people who build and run the products, which means we can commit to development programs that pay off over years rather than quarters — investing in products, people and technology because we believe they will create value for our customers for many years to come.
The acquisition of SECANT fits exactly within that philosophy.
It is not about consolidation for its own sake. It is about bringing together people, knowledge and technology to build something stronger. And it is about setting the new standard in cutting optimization — something we intend to keep raising.
Welcome to the ARDIS® family, SECANT.
