FixChip support in nesting, done right

What is FixChip?

Traditionally, furniture panels are joined using dowels, which can require a second machining step after nesting to add side drillings.

FixChip uses a smart connector that allows the required connections to be prepared directly during CNC nesting, helping eliminate that second step.

This page is particularly relevant if you:

  • already use or are considering FixChip on a nesting CNC
  • your current CAM solution supports FixChip, but not in the most material-efficient way
  • want to maintain high material yield while producing FixChip parts correctly.

Supporting FixChip is one thing. Nesting it correctly is another.

The 35 mm FixChip side machining extends beyond the part edge.

Many nesting systems treat this machining space as part of each individual component. When two FixChip parts are nested next to each other, the same space can effectively be taken into account twice.

More material is machined away than necessary — reducing nesting yield.
